Low Back Pain ! Hip Flexion - Sartorius

Patients with back problems often have hip flexor stiffness. The hip flexor that is not rocket science to locate is the sartorius due to its strap-like form stretching from the outer aspect of the hip persons medial aspect of especially if they knee joint. This muscle we can sit in the taylor sit position as well as lotus position.

The sartorius muscle flexes the hip along with they also rolls the hip to the outside (external rotation). It is also a knee flexor.

To experimentation this muscle, the patient places the heel of the tested side on another knee. Patients with pain but not tightness of the sartorius generally difficulty placing the heel from opposite knee.

However, difficulty in performing this function also call for presence of pain and spasm to the lower back muscles, sweet extensor muscles, hip abductor which internal rotator muscles.
Tightness and shortening of muscles will produce disorder performing this motion which is called the FABERE testing (this is a combination of ability of the hip to go, abduct and externally rotate).
